Track progress and plan next steps

Why?

Even in small organisations, roles change quickly. Monitoring keeps fairness alive.

How?

  • Monitoring can be informal. Recheck job roles annually or when they change significantly.
  • Keep a brief written record of updates.
  • Explain changes to workers in a short meeting.
  • Consider joining forces with other small organisations or using sector-level tools for updates.

Good practices

  • Keep all notes and checklists in a single folder (digital or paper).
  • Discuss results openly in team meetings to build trust.

Micro-organisation monitoring checklist

This checklist helps micro-organisations (fewer than 10 workers) track progress after completing a gender-neutral job evaluation and classification. It ensures the pay system stays fair, even as roles and responsibilities change.

1. Review of job evaluation and classification results

  • Have job profiles been updated if tasks or responsibilities changed?

  • Are the four factors (skills, responsibility, effort, working conditions) still applied consistently?

  • Have you checked for undervaluation of women-dominated roles?

2. Pay structure alignment

  • Do pay grades still reflect the ranking of jobs?

  • Have new allowances, bonuses or benefits been reviewed for fairness?

  • Have upward adjustments been made where needed?

3. Monitoring and reporting

  • Have results been recorded in a simple written note?

  • Have changes been shared with all workers?

  • Has any appeal or concern been noted and addressed?

4. Planning next steps

  • Will roles be rechecked at least once a year?

  • Do you have a process to review when jobs are created or responsibilities change?

  • If needed, can you seek advice from a sectoral body or external adviser?

Results

Mostly checked: Your system is being maintained well. Keep reviewing annually.

Mostly unchecked: Gaps remain. Focus on updating job profiles and checking pay alignment.
