The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) and the UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the UNFPA Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional Office are convening a Joint Regional workshop on Strengthening data systems on Violence Against Women (VAW), which will take place virtually from 7 to 9 December 2020.

The workshop is aimed at sharing knowledge, experiences and lessons learned on building synergies on VAW measurements across countries in the region. It is designed for representatives of national statistical offices, representatives of key ministries and agencies, CSO representatives and other relevant entities working on administration and management of data on violence from:

  • Western Balkans and Turkey;
  • Eastern Partnership countries;
  • and Central Asia.

During the event, participants will learn how to best harmonise, collect, analyse and report data on VAW from different data sources to establish a multi-sectoral response to gender-based violence. In addition, the workshop will discuss recommendations on measuring the prevalence of VAW/G, relevant statistical classifications and best national practices.

The workshop will enhance the capacity of data producers and policymakers to use and report on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and other international and national commitments.

Working time of the event will be Eastern European Time (EET, GMT/UTC +2) as follows: 7 December 10am- 2pm, 8 December 1pm-4:30pm and 9 December 10am – 1:30pm.

The agenda, presentations and other event-related materials are available under the “Resources” tab.
