Description

Lockdown measures implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic led to increased reports of intimate partner violence in a number of EU Member States, with a number of countries introducing emergency measures to try and address the increased risk of violence. EIGE examined the various measures introduced by Member States to gather quantitative and qualitative evidence on the effectiveness of institutional responses to combat intimate partner violence during the Covid-19 pandemic and during crisis situations more broadly.

The study:

  • Analysed the different ways Member States tried to ensure access to support services during the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Provided recommendations on measures Member States can take to facilitate access to support services for women victims of violence during crisis situations.
  • Provided recommendations on policies and measures Member States can adopt to counter violence against women during crisis situations.
