For the forthcoming Belgian Presidency, EIGE is preparing a report which investigates the multidimensional concept of financial independence from gender equality perspective, including its measurement and available evidence.

The study examines how tax and benefit systems relate to gender inequalities in financial independence and how traditional methodological approaches on income pooling and sharing in the household may bias awareness of gender inequalities in financial independence.

The study assesses how financial dependence contributes to a range of gender inequalities, including economic violence.

EIGE is organising this virtual meeting to consult with experts on policy recommendations.
