The purpose of this publication is to provide an introductory overview of the background and various aspects of gender-sensitive education. The introduction covers the basic concepts and definition of sex and gender. It addresses the negative consequences of gender stereotyping on the lives of women and men. It offers examples of gender-sensitive education and methodology for teachers work with children and youth by the elimination of gender stereotypes.
