The document outlines the BIS' central objectives to ensure that the Department is focused on delivering equality and diversity. These entail external and internal equality objectives, namely: maximising participation in the workforce, making the most of a diverse workforce, building the evidence base for E&D; and (internal) ensuring that he diversity profile of their workforce reflects UK population, improving their knowledge of the BIS workforce and ensuring an engaged and accountable leadership.
