Gender Impact Assessment
Aims and objectives
The aim of GIA in Andalusia is to revise some types of norms and policies (laws, regulations and plans) from a gender perspective before they are approved by the government. It represents hence and ex-ante evaluation of public policies.
Results and impact
According to a recent report on Andalusia equality policies, from 2008 to 2011, 409 norms have been accompanied by a GIA. Additionally, a GIA has been carried out for the last seven annual budgets in the region of Andalusia.

Contents/activities/services
Law 18/2003, approving fiscal and administrative measures established that all law proposals should include a GIA. This mandate was broadened by Law 12/2007, on the promotion of gender equality in Andalusia, stating that all laws, regulations and plans must be revised by a GIA. In 2012, Decree 12/2012 determined a minimun content and structure for the GIA.

Evaluation: No specific evaluation on GIA has bee carried out. However, Periodical Report of the Effectiveness of the Principle of Equality in the Government of Andalusia, published in 2011, provided some data on the implementation of GIA.
