Database of expert women contributors
In the past RTÉ had a database of expert women contributors which was used by various programmes. Since it has gone out of date/print, it has been the responsibility of programme editors and management to make sure that women are fairly represented. This happens on an ad hoc basis and cannot always prevent unfair representation, yet the database experience made the top level realise that the principle of equal representation should be adhered to whenever possible. RTE is now developing a software package to support fairness in representation of various categories of contributors generally.
