Code of conduct
A code of conduct is in place since 2008. The implementation is monitored through questionnaires. The questionnaires assess staff and managers’ behaviours, media contents, networking opportunities, databases, surveys, manuals and guidelines.
Aims and objectives
- To promote gender equality at all levels and in all aspects of the media - management, editors, directors, program contents and equity in presenting topics from male and female perspectives - To provide women with equal chances of promotion, career development, access to top management and expression of their views and perspectives.
Results and impact
Since implementing the code of conduct over 50% of top managers and decision makers in bTV (first private national TV station in Bulgaria) are women; over 60% of editors in chief and leading journalists covering crucial topics such as economics, politics, government, corruption, mafia and crime are women.
