Struggle against FGM domestically and abroad
Kampf gegen weibliche Genitalverstümmelung im In- und Ausland - Answer to Parliamentary Question
* The Federal Government recognizes the approval of the "shared statement" from WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA (Female Genital Mutilation. A joint WHO / UNICEF / UNFPA statement, Geneva, 1997) on the relevant committees of WHO. Aim is for concerned States to support financially the fight against FGM. Embassies in the countries of origin of asylum seekers are able to provide detailed information on the gender situation in their host country, including a focus on genital mutilation. Issues of women's and human rights in countries where FGM is practiced, mentioned by the Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Minister at the Foreign Office. The Federal Government shows here that all forms of women's and human rights abuses are sentenced equally pushing for the protection of all human rights of women.
