The expert meeting is organised in the frame of EIGE’s study to  map the current  situation and trends of FGM in the 27 EU Member States and Croatia. The meeting will provide the opportunity to discuss and share ideas on how to best address the fight against FGM in Europe, based upon the findings of the research that has been undertaken in the 27 EU Member States and Croatia. It will address examples of approaches relating to prevention, protection, prosecution, provision of services, as well as partnerships.

This meeting will primarily target policy makers from the EU Member States, involved in the definition and implementation of specific policy interventions on the issue of FGM. Its aim is to explore the transferability of certain approaches across countries or contexts, to identify the leverages and barriers for adopting particular approaches, and to promote policy learning and networking. The meeting will bring together experts who can contribute to the discussion on practices with potential and/or good practices in combating FGM. Participants will include representatives from the Member States, from NGOs and international organisations who work on FGM .
