Tværministerielle Kønsmainstreaming projekt 2007-2011
Inter-ministerial gender mainstreaming action plan 2007-2011
Aims and objectives
The main objective of launching the inter-ministerial gender mainstreaming project was to ensure that gender and gender equality issues are an integrated part of policy making and that all legislative measures are assessed in relation to gender equality impacts.
Results and impact
The official external evaluation of the gender mainstreaming action plan for 2007-2011 concluded that even more efforts were needed as gender mainstreaming still failed to be considered an integrated part of ministerial policies and practices, for instance in terms of the failure to gender mainstream large social and political reforms. The conclusion was that the fact that every individual minister is responsible as minister for equality for her/his own areas makes gender mainstreaming difficult, therefore it is necessary to create methods and tools to facilitate further changes in the public sector.

With the gender mainstreaming action plan for 2007-2011 another inter-ministerial steering committee was appointed as the overall responsible for the gender mainstreaming project. Again, the members of this committee were executives from all ministries. In order to support the gender mainstreaming project the Ministry of Gender Equality also set up an inter-ministerial network providing each ministry with professional support and expertise.
