FGM prevention and treatment have in several cases been integrated in Regional Health Care initiatives. Region Basilicata included in its Annual Plan on Immigration 2009 (DGR n. 306, 27/02/2009); information actions on FGM targeted at migrants are also included in Calabria Regional Health Care Planning . DGR n. 694, 09/11/2007). In Emilia Romagna DGR n. 2154 del 15/12/2008 was approved as a consequence of Law n. 7/2006, allocating resources to Health Care Centres to work on FGM, and the issue was already tackled in 1999 with a project involving Family Planning Clinics (DGR n. 2464 del 21/12/1999); Region Friuli Venezia Giulia was also very active as with its Regional Directive n° 2001 09/10/2008 approved a project named “Percorso integrato di ricerca, formazione e sensibilizzazione degli operatori sanitari per la prevenzione e il contrasto delle mutilazioni genitali femminili nelle donne e nelle bambine immigrate” (Integrated project for research, training raising awareness of health care professionals to prevent and contrast FGM". With Decree n.1477 24/06/2009 it established a regional board to prevent and contrast FGM; Region Marche also organized a training for health care professionals included in its Regional three year Plan for Health Care (DGR n. 599 14/04/2009). Puglia Regional Health Care Plan for 2008/2010 (LR n. 23, 19/09/2008) insists on the need to use cultural mediators in Hospitals and Family Planning Clinic and to train health care professionals on FGM and treatment's protocols to be applied in cases of infibulated pregnant women. Basilicata Annual Plans on Health Care included FGM screening, while Calabria insisted on training/informing migrants (Regional Health Care Plan 2007-2009 _DGR n. 694, 09/11/2007). Regional Law of Toscana for the integration of migrants n. 29, 09/06/2009 mentions FGM in art. 6c.39 stating that the Region implements information and raising awareness actions aimed at preventing and contrasting FGM with the participation of migrants' communities from countries at risk.
