Female migrant population originating from countries where FGM is practiced: 59.000; from these 29.000 have most probably undergone FGM or are thought to be at risk of FGM.

35 (7%) knew about patients who wanted to subject their daughters to FGM/C in their home country; 48 (10%) claimed to have heard about girls being subjected to the practice in Germany; 3 (1%) had been asked to practice FGM/C on the daughters of immigrants
Limitations of study
This study is limited to the work experience of gynaecologists in Germany with women who have undergone FGM; part of the study also include statements of experts and individual experience reports of women with FGM.
