Greece National Plan of Action to prevent and eliminate Female Genital Mutilation
This project, funded by the European Commission's Daphne programme and coordinated by the European Network for the Prevention of FGM, aims to develop a national plan of action for preventing and eliminating of female genital mutilation in 15 EU countries, by joining all actors at national level in these countries.
Some of the most important actions to be implemented through this Action plan include raising community awareness and providing education and empowerment for community stakeholders, especially religious leaders and community leaders, as well as raising awareness and educating medical and health professionals, investigating the possibility of legal action to protect the second generation from FGM, and creating an information line and consultancy service in Greece.
