On 30 of June, the conference “Women Enhancing Democracy: Best Practices" will be organised by Lithuania, the chair of the “Community of Democracies”. The event will be opened by the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė and the President of Finland Tarja Halonen. It will take place at the Lithuanian President’s Office in Vilnius. 

Government officials and activists will participate at a range of roundtable sessions, with a focus on strategies or tools that can be used to increase women’s participation in consolidated democracies as well as in emerging democracies and transitional governments. Organisers will collect their issues of interest for each session from Non-Governmental Organizations. The discussion moderator will raise the the most popular questions, enabling activists all around the world to participate

in the discussion indirectly.

EIGE's Director Virginija Langbakk will moderate the discussion on "Women Inspiring the World: Educated, Empowered, Equal" where Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of Lithuania, Tarja Halonen, President of Finland, Saadia Zahidi, Director and Head of Constituents at the World Economic Forum (Davos), Global Gender Gap Index, Sima Samar, Afghanistan, IHRC, Hoda Badran, Egypt, Alliance for Arab Women and Melanne Verveer, Ambassador-At-Large for Global Women’s Issues, US State Department will participate.
