In the lead up to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, EIGE marks the beginning of the awareness-raising campaign, Orange the World, in by lighting up Europe House in orange.
Violence against women is a serious problem in the European Union today. About 33% of women have experienced physical or sexual violence and this is also the case for Lithuania. The figure reflects just a fraction of the reality since violence against women continues to be under-reported.
Violence against women and girls is not an issue for victims only. By promising to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women, we can bring change.
