What is the Gender Equality Forum?

The Gender Equality Forum is a dynamic event designed to bring people together to discuss the most pressing gender equality issues in the EU. The Forum takes place at a significant time: after the European Parliament elections and with a new Commission (likely) in office. What message should we share with the new EU decision-makers to make sure that gender equality continues to progress across the EU?

We want to give you, young people of Europe, the opportunity to have a say in this.

Discussions at the Forum will be based around two thematic strands:

  • Taking stock of gender equality in Europe: now and beyond 2025
  • Tackling gender-based violence in the EU: Persistent and emerging challenges and how can we address them?

We will have a rich programme with debates, workshops, masterclasses, inspirational talks, and others. We invite you to join a large variety of participants: from representatives of EU institutions to civil society organisations, human rights defenders to artists, and many more.

The event will be in English. It will take place in person and online, with International Sign Language interpretation for selected sessions on-site and online.

What’s in it for you?

If you are passionate about working together towards a bigger purpose, and specifically interested in promoting gender equality and human rights in your community and beyond, this is the place to be.

You will be able to share your unique ideas with high-level representatives and gender equality experts, as well as peers.

Making a difference starts by debating ideas and exchanging experiences and different perspectives. The Forum will give you the opportunity to do that.

Who can apply?

We want our Forum to reflect the diversity of Europe. Hence, we encourage applications from interested candidates who fulfil the below-mentioned profile, irrespective of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial, ethnic or social origin, colour, disability, religion or belief.

This call is designed for people who are:

  • aged between 18-30 years (at the time of application)
  • committed to gender equality as a core principle of the European Union
  • motivated to participate actively in the different sessions of the Forum
  • able to express themselves comfortably in English
  • available for the entire duration of the Forum (10 and 11 December)
  • based in one of the 27 Member States of the EU
