Description
The European Commission conducted the EU-GBV survey across EU countries to gather data on gender-based violence and other forms of inter-personal violence. National statistical authorities in 8 EU Member States were unable to gather the data required for the survey.
To ensure comparable, EU-wide data, EIGE and the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) collected data in these countries. The preliminary results of the EU-GBV survey were released in 2024 and formed part of EIGE’s Gender Equality Index that year. The final report was prepared in collaboration by the two agencies for the last quarter of 2025.
Building upon the Violence Against Women survey conducted by FRA in 2014, the data allowed for analysis of developments in gender-based violence and informed the preparatory work for the next wave of the EU-GBV survey.
