Gender budgeting is a strategy and a process with the long-term aim of achieving gender equality goals. This step-by-step toolkit aims to assist managing authorities in the European Union to apply gender budgeting tools in the processes of the EU Funds under shared management.

EIGE has developed an online toolkit to apply gender budgeting as a gender mainstreaming tool in EU Funds processes. The first three sections introduce the concept of gender budgeting and examine its relevance for the EU Funds. Section 4 offers 11 practical tools on gender budgeting, related to: the EU regulatory framework; national/sub-national programming and project-level support;
13 May 2020 With 55.2 out of 100 points, Poland ranks 24th in the EU on the Gender Equality Index. Its score is 12.2 points lower than the EU average. Between 2005 and 2017, Poland’s coreincreased by only 2.8 points. Compared to 2015, its score decreased by 1.6 points. Poland is progressing towards gender equality at a slower pace than other Member States.
07 October 2019The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) is an autonomous body of the European Union established to strengthen gender equality across the EU. Equality between women and men is a fundamental value of the EU and EIGE’s task is to make this a reality in Europe and beyond.
17 September 2019The Gender Equality Index 2017 examines the progress and challenges in achieving gender equality across the European Union from 2005 to 2015. Using a scale from 1 (full inequality) to 100 (full equality), it measures the differences between women and men in key domains of the EU policy framework (work, money, knowledge, time, power and health).
26 September 2018The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) is the only European Union agency focusing solely on gender equality. With substantial resources already collected and developed, EIGE is becoming the EU knowledge centre for gender equality.

The study on the economic benefits of gender equality is unique in the EU context. It is the first of its kind to use a robust econometric model to estimate a broad range of macroeconomic benefits of gender equality in several broad policy areas such as education, labour market activity and wages. It also considers the demographic consequences of such improvements.
