The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) estimates that 11–21 % of girls (1 408–2 568 girls) aged 0–18 are at risk of female genital mutilation (FGM) in Denmark, out of a total population of 12 462 girls aged 0–18 in 2019 originating from countries where FGM is practised. Of these 12 462 migrant girls, 82 % (10 269) are second generation.

With 77.4 out of 100 points, Denmark ranks 2nd in the EU on the Gender Equality Index. Denmark’s score is 9.5 points above the EU’s score. Since 2010, its score has increased by 2.2 points, although its score has decreased by 0.1 point since 2017. Its ranking has remained the same since 2010. A tool to track resource allocation for gender equality in the EU cohesion policy funds (Tool 8) has been added to this step-by-step toolkit.

EIGE has developed an online toolkit to apply gender budgeting as a gender mainstreaming tool in EU Funds processes. The first three sections introduce the concept of gender budgeting and examine its relevance for the EU Funds. Section 4 offers 11 practical tools on gender budgeting, related to: the EU regulatory framework; national/sub-national programming and project-level support;

With 77.5 out of 100 points, Denmark is a top scoring country. With a score almost 10 points above the EU’s score, Denmark ranks second in the EU on the Gender Equality Index. Its score has increased by only 2.9 points from 2005 to 2017 (+ 0.7 points since 2015). Denmark has maintained second place since 2005.

The Gender Equality Index 2017 examines the progress and challenges in achieving gender equality across the European Union from 2005 to 2015. Using a scale from 1 (full inequality) to 100 (full equality), it measures the differences between women and men in key domains of the EU policy framework (work, money, knowledge, time, power and health).
