European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) in cooperation with UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia are convening the Regional Experts Meeting to discuss the draft Guidelines on Strengthening Data System on Violence Against Women (VAW) in Western Balkans and Turkey.

The meeting will gather key national stakeholders and experts from the region working in the area of combating VAW and administrative data collection, stemming from international standards. EIGE will present the draft Guidelines, which are currently being developed in cooperation with UN Women. The future publication aims to provide a step by step guide for key national stakeholders working on implementation of the Istanbul Convention and international standards of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) on how to collect, administrate and report data on VAW. 

The objective of the meeting is to get input from the national stakeholders in the region on what is needed that the Guidelines could be practically applied in the national practices and data collection methods, what information and guidance would be useful in strengthening local capacities, improving and coordinating the data collection and production of VAW statistics. The publication of the Guidelines is planned in the end of 2021 and will be dully announced.
