  • Women's Democracy Network - Community of Democracies conference

    The Women's Democracy Network (WDN) is bringing a delegation of 11 women to Lithuania to hold the annual event - Legislative Caucus Conference on June 29, 2011. A group of WDN members from around the world, members of parliament and the executive branch, political activists and business representatives, are gathering in Vilnius for an intensive program of meetings and seminars on June 29.

  • 6th Experts' Forum meeting

    The 6th Experts' Forum meeting took place in Vilnius on 28 and 29 June 2011 The meeting was dedicated to presenting the Annual Activity Report and Annual Report for June - December 2011, update the developments in 2011 and to present the draft Annual Work Programme 2012. Furthermore, at this meeting was discussed and gathered Experts' Forum members views on (i) the role of experts involved in EIGE's work and various activites;

  • Gender Equality: EIGE and OECD programmes and projects

    On June 22nd EIGE will host a meeting with OECD, in Vilnius. EIGE and OECD will present their action plan to promote gender equality. EIGE will introduce its focal areas and relevant activities planned and on going, presenting "Promoting Equality within Annual Work Programme: Good practices, tools, methods and Gender Equality Index". OECD will introduce the “Gender Initiative: strengthening equality in education, employment and entrepreneurship” Project.

  • Journalists consultation meeting - Copenhagen

    In order to collect expert advice from journalist and media experts for its Communications Strategy, EIGE is organising the Journalists consultation meetings. The aim of the Journalist Consultation meeting in Copenhagen is to: present the main focus of EIGE’s current work with focus on Environment. collect input to get gender equality on the European media agenda cross the member states.

  • EIGE's Resource and Documentation Centre Consultation Meeting

    The consultation meeting on EIGE's Resource and Documentation Centre (RDC) invites key stakeholders from information/resource centres and libraries on gender equality in Europe to Vilnius. The focus of the meeting is the development of EIGE’s RDC and on learning from past experiences and challenges of existing information/resource centres and libraries in Europe. EIGE’s RDC will offer a single point of access to already existing information/resource centres and libraries on gender equality in Europe.

  • Delegation of FEMM Committee at EIGE

    A delegation of the European Parliament's FEMM Committee will visit EIGE on 19 until 20 May 2011 with the aim of establishing closer relations with EIGE and in order to discuss future cooperation. This meeting will occur in the follow-up to the participation of EIGE’s Director, Virginija Langbakk, at the FEMM Committee meeting which took place between 14 -15 March 2011 at the European Parliament, in Brussels.

  • Gender-Based Violence Experts Meet

    A meeting in Vilnius today drew in Europe's top experts on gender-based violence. Practitioners and researchers from a number of EU Member States that are working in the field, including those who have explicit experience in working with men to end gender-based violence provided EIGE with significant input from their respective countries. Kadri Soo (Estonia), Minna Piispa (Finland), Inta Poudziunas (Latvia) and Barbara Limanowska (EIGE) Having presented the latest developments in EIGE's work on gender-based violence and men and masculinities, EIGE additionally reported on the progress of the Study to identify and map existing data and resources on sexual violence against women in the European Union.

The aim of the Journalist Consultation meeting in Marseille is to present the main focus of EIGE’s current work with focus on reconciliation, providing an introduction on promoting a balance between working, family and personal life for both women and men collect input to get gender equality on the European media agenda cross the member states.

    Š.m. gegužės 12 d. Europos Parlamento Informacijos biuras Lietuvoje, Europos Komisijos atstovybė Lietuvoje, Europos Lyčių lygybės institutas ir LR Užsienio reikalų ministerija kviečia į Atvirų Europos namų dieną ir atveria duris lankytojams. Projekto „Atviri Europos namai” tikslas - atverti Lietuvoje įsikūrusių Europos institucijų, ir valstybės įstaigų duris visiems besidomintiems Europos Sąjunga ir papasakoti svečiams apie savo veiklą.   • First meeting of the EU Gender Equality Index Working Group

    The aim of the 1st meeting of the EU Gender Equality Index (EU GEI) Working Group is to present the main findings of EIGE’s study on the development of the basic structure of the EU Gender Equality Index launched in 2010 and to agree on the working plan on the development of a composite indicator on gender equality at the European Union level.

  • International organisations experts' meeting on the EU Gender Equality Index

    The aim of the international organisations expert's meeting on the EU Gender Equality Index (EU GEI) is in: Sharing and comparing common experiences and best practices in measuring gender equality; Debating different perspectives and achieving a common understanding of the gender equality concept; Defining an exhaustive, relevant and comprehensive theoretical framework of gender equality within the EU 27 Member States.
