To mark International Women's Day, and the launch of the EU Gender Equality Strategy 2026-2030 on 4 March, the Cyprus Presidency organizes an event, including Commissioner for Equality, Hadja Lahbib and EIGE Director, Carlien Scheele.

Given that the Cyprus Presidency places particular emphasis on the prevention and combating of cyber violence targeting women and girls, which is also prominently featuring in the next Strategy, speakers discuss key issues such as cyber violence, and digital transformation, highlighting both opportunities and risks posed by new technologies. Digital governance, covering Artificial Intelligence (AI) to data protection, are central to the discussion, with a view to exploring whether and how technological innovation can advance gender equality or impede it.
