EIGE’s Brussels Liaison Officer, Sarah Cooke O’Dowd, takes part in the high-level event, "25 Years of UNSCR 1325: New Challenges, Renewed Commitment, and the Future of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda", organised by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the European Union, and UN Women.
The event marks two significant anniversaries in 2025: the 25th anniversary of UNSCR 1325 and the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. It offers an important moment to reflect on the progress made in advancing the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda, while addressing the new challenges arising from global conflicts and growing attacks on gender equality and women’s rights.
