May marks EU Diversity Month across the EU. This year, my Agency is focusing on championing gender equality and safety at work as fundamental pillars of inclusive and thriving workplaces. This aligns with the EU's theme for this year's diversity month - promoting mental health and wellbeing at the workplace.
At a time when progress on diversity and inclusion faces significant challenges, we must double down our efforts to support and implement legislation that strengthens gender equality and fosters safe working environments for all.
We will provide perspectives on three key aspects that we see as critical:
Sexual harassment at work is more common than we think
Sexual harassment in the workplace remains a pervasive issue, undermining women's rights, dignity, and career progression. It's both a workplace safety concern and a gender equality crisis that demands our immediate attention. Preventing sexual harassment is essential for ensuring democratic, just workplaces where all can thrive equally.
Family-friendly policies hold the key to unlocking Europe’s hidden talent pool
Care and competitiveness are deeply connected. Achieving a balance between the two is not just a possibility, but a necessity. Supporting workers with care responsibilities is essential for bolstering our economic competitiveness and building a thriving, inclusive workforce.

Later this month, my Agency is publishing a new factsheet on gender balance in business and finance bringing into focus how legislative measures as well as commitment from companies and organisations can help move the needle. And why supporting gender balance in leadership is about ensuring meaningful participation, influence, and safety for all.
This month, we renew our commitment to inclusive gender equality and workplace safety, continuing to push for evidence-based, lasting change.
