National Women's Strategy 2007 - 2016

The National Women’s Strategy is the Irish Government’s statement of priorities in relation to the advancement of women in Irish society for the period 2007 to 2016 It contains 20 objectives organized around three themes: i) equalising soci-economic opportunity for women; ii) ensuring the wellbeing of women; and iii) engaging as equal and active citizens. The Strategy claims to build upon and complement work which has already begin in relation to the mainstreaming of gender as an issue in all policy-making. Objective 18 of the Strategy is focused on implementing gender mainstreaming as the principal instrument for the achievement of gender equality in Ireland.
