Description

Using a mixed-method approach combining analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, the study explores girls’ experiences of cyber violence including their understanding of it, their ability to recognise it as violence when they witness it as bystanders or experience it themselves. It will also investigate girls’ perception of the relevance and usefulness of prevention efforts from schools and other institutions. The study also explores their experience of reporting cyber violence to platforms, parents or teachers and the support and feedback they received after reporting. The study includes a literature review, analysis of policy approaches to prevention of cyber violence and quantitative data as well as a qualitative case study with girls from age 13 to 18 in 10 EU Member States.

This study falls under EIGE’s support to the Presidencies of the Council of the EU in monitoring the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action in the EU.
