Description of the contract
The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) envisages awarding a middle-value contract for updating EIGE step-by-step guide to estimate the number of women and girls at risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the EU.
Description of the requested services
This study aims to assess the need to update EIGE’s step-by-step methodology for estimating the risk of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) among women and girls living in the EU, in light of significant contextual changes affecting FGM practices.
The study will begin by analysing key contextual factors, including socio-cultural, economic, and political dimensions, that influence the risk of FGM. It will then identify and evaluate available data sources relevant to risk estimation. Finally, it will review EIGE’s methodology in view of new socio-economic scenarios.
The outcome of this process will be evidence-based recommendations to strengthen and improve EIGE’s existing measurement framework for estimating the risk of FGM across the EU.
