The Council of Europe Gender Equality Commission (GEC) in partnership with the French authorities is organising a Hearing on “Access to justice for women victims of violence”. The Hearing is part of the activities and on-going work in the area of Equal Access of Women to Justice – defined as a priority by the Council of Europe Gender Equality Commission (GEC).

Themes to be discussed will include among others:

  • Equal access of women to justice - developments and standards
  • Access to justice for women victims of violence: Council of Europe and other relevant regional and international standards
  • Assessing and addressing barriers women face in the justice chain (including legal, procedural, socio-economic and cultural barriers)
  • Experiences and good practices from Council of Europe member states
