Although in the last years the issue of violence against women has gained increased attention on the political scene, rape still remains a “forgotten” issue in Europe. The EWL Barometer 2013 gives visibility to this topic and presents the major challenges in Europe (on data collection, services for victims, prevention and information). It covers 30 countries and shows how national legislation complies with the Council of Europe Convention definition of rape. The Barometer is compiled with the expertise of the EWL Observatory on Violence against Women and with the support of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung EU Office.
