National Council of Greek Women
The NCGW is a non profit, non party-political organization founded in 2008. It is a federation of 48 women NGOs across Greece and Cyprus with various objectives who share our main objective mainly the progress and evolution of the woman as a member of the Family, the Society and the State and the protection and upbringing of Youth.The NCGW is keeping a close watch on political and social developments in Greece and in Europe and informing Greek authorities and M.P.s of the Greek and European Parliament on our position on key issues. Informing our members and encouraging them to take action when needed.To this end a Bulletin is sent to all members (organizations and individuals) and other major organizations every 3 months.We are in close collaboration with International, European and National Organisations on the subject of human rights and especiallly women's rights.

Description: Irini Pantazi was elected president of NCGW in September 2013. She has a brilliant career in the judicial sector, as a prosecutor. For many years she served as a prosecutor for juveniles at the department of juvenile justice in Athens and at this capacity she was elected [2006/2013] President of the Foundation of Juveniles of Athens, which is supervised by the Greek Ministry of Justice . She participated as a member or president of the law acting commissions of the Ministry of justice for the drafting of bills concerning the child as an offender and as a victim of sexual abuse. These bills have already passed as a law.
