Media Systems, Equal Rights and the Freedom of the Press: Gender as a Case in Point
Equal rights regulations and affirmative action are sometimes thought of as restricting the freedom of the press. This book chapter contradicts this argument and instead claims that the provision of equal rights is a decisive indicator of press freedom in the media. The focus is on the gendering of the media system and on gender equality in various European countries including Romania.
