Family Report 2012 - Benefits, Effects, Trends

The report comprehensively informs about the life situation of families in Germany. Beside some current figures about the population development, the family types and family-friendly policies, the reconciliation of work and family and work as well as time policies for families, day care for children and the good development of children is in the centre of attention of the family report. Concerning the reconciliation of work and family and work, it can be shown that firstly the family formation much more affects the employment behaviour of women in comparison with men. Secondly, a higher labour participation of mothers is essentially influenced by a fair sharing of family- and housework within the partnership. Thirdly, the effective working time doesn’t correspond with the desired working time of both genders. Fourthly: Parents require a flexible and family friendly business- and working culture.
