Act n°359/1999 on the social and legal protection of children (Czech Republic)
This act notably applies to families in which children are thought to be endangered, due to the regular consumption of alcohol, drugs, or to the perpetration of criminal offenses by parents, legal tutors or persons exerting authority. (Part II, paragraph 6). Children can be removed from their families and placed under the responsibility of another family (upon decision of the competent court and proposal of the local administration). This act is applicable to any child having is permanent residence in the Czech republic, but also to asylum applicants and persons under temporary protection.

Local administrations. This act also establishes a public agency for the International legal protection of children (Úřad pro mezinárodně-právní ochranu dětí), based in Brno, that notably aims at collecting data, including for underage asylum applicants or illegal migrants.
