In view of international Convenants and European legislation, the National Council of Equal Opportunities recommends to prohibit any form of FGM and to issue a specific (legal) text for this purpose. In addition, protective measures should be foreseen. The role and responsibilities of selected professionals such as professionals working in Child Protection and medical doctors should be described.
