Lokale Bündnisse für Familie (Local Alliances for the Family)

Since 2004 the Local Alliances for Families have pursued the objective of improving framework conditions for the reconciliation of family and work on site. In 670 local and regional networks partners from economy, administration and civil society have joined forces on a voluntary basis to promote a local family-friendly infrastructure. About 5.200 initiatives and projects on the local level support working mothers and fathers in matters of reconciling family and work, reliable childcare and developing a supportive family-friendly infrastructure. Reconciliation of work and care/nursing as well becomes an increasingly important field of activity of the Local Alliances. Nationwide, more than 13.000 actors and more than 5.000 enterprises are engaged in Local Alliances. They are supported by a service unit (service office, specialist counselling, public relations office), which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and offers alliances and those interested in alliances guidance with regard to initiation, qualification, networking, public relations work and coordination of Local Alliances for Families.
