New forms of Work Organization; Quality of Working life and Work-family Balance: Portugal in the context of the European Union
Novas formas de organização do trabalho, qualidade de vida e articulação trabalho-família: Portugal no quadro da União Europeia
Relying on data from the 5th Survey on Working Conditions 2010 (EUROFOUND), this article aims to identify the new forms of work organization being implemented in Portugal and in the EU in general. It also observes the respective implications for the work-life balance and quality of working life. The results indicate that the new forms of work organization implemented in Portugal are associated with the principles of the lean production model. There is a significant relationship between these features and the individuals’ perception of stress at work. There is also a positive relationship with difficulties in terms of work-life balance.
