Female Genital Mutilation: Information for health care professionals working in Ireland
Data from Census 2011 was used, together with other relevant population figures on numbers of women from FGM practising countries living in Ireland.These statistics were then synthesised with global FGM prevalence data to determine an estimated total of 3,780 women between the ages of 15 and 44 residing in Ireland who have undergone FGM.
