National Helpline for Women victims of violence (Bundesweites Hilfetelefon für von Gewalt betroffene Frauen)
About 80 % of the women suffering violence are not reached by the classical supporting services. To facilitate them access to supporting structures to seek for help, the national helpline will be the first contact point, reachable under one nationwide number. Information and support is provided by professional staff in several languages, adressing all forms of Gender based violence. The helpline will be the first contact point, and provide information were to seek specialised help provided by regional organsations. For this, a database with the relevant organisations, institutions and authorities have to be build up.
In parallel, an Internet-service and chat will be available. Also, specific information for professionals will be provided via Internet.
Aims and objectives
To provide a low threshold access and anonymous support for women victims of violence. The service is available 24 h and cost free. The number is equal in all the Lander.
Results and impact
It is estimated that about 255.000 women will call the national helpline per year, which corresponds to 700 calls a day. About 90 counsellers will be needed to provide 24 h services.
It is foreseen to regularily monitor the services, and to provide a yearly report. Also, an evaluation will be carried out.
