The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), in partnership with the European Parliament Office in Lithuania, the Women’s Information Center, and media partner LRytas, is organising the event “Storm Before the Silence: Violence Against Women in Lithuania,” which will take place on 21 November 2025 in Vilnius.

This event is part of the United Nations’ “Orange the World” initiative to end violence against women and girls. The initiative marks the start of the annual 16 Days of Activism campaign, which runs from 25 November—the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women—until Human Rights Day on 10 December.

Jolanta Reingarde, Team Leader for Research and Statistics, highlights the importance of #SafeSpaces with no excuses and discusses how we can challenge persistent gender stereotypes.
