Sophie Domres (she/her) grew up in a working-class family in a small village in the Ruhr area. After a year abroad in Mexico, she decided to study International Relations in Kleve, Berlin and Potsdam. She also took an additional degree in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Potsdam. After her master’s she worked for a feminist development NGO. Today she works as a policy advisor in the German Bundestag, specialising in gender equality, science diplomacy and (international) science policy. From 2023-2024 she was a Sylke Tempel Research Fellow, researching the importance of civil society for feminist foreign policy.
