Camelia Proca is founder and director of Association for Liberty and Gender Equality – A.L.E.G., a non-governmental organization active since 2004 in Romania and Eastern Europe on promoting gender equality and preventing and combating gender-based violence. Camelia has a diploma in the equal status and rights of women from Raol Wallenberg Institute in Sweden and served as board member of the European WAVE network. Together with the team in A.L.E.G., Camelia piloted specialized services for survivors of sexual violence, and in 2018 established an innovative approach in the area of empowering survivors of gender-based violence based on peer-to-peer support guided by professionals.
