Kira Appel holds a MA in Political Science and has dedicated her professional life to gender equality. She has worked for the Danish Government in the Gender Equality Department for more than two decades and is Director of International Gender Equality. She is a specialist in most equality areas and has been the anchor point on the Governments action plans on violence against women as well as trafficking. Young people in general and men and boys in particular are some focal points.
She is a long standing member of the Management Board of EIGE and has served as Vice Chair for several years – as well as in the Council of Europe’s Gender Equality Commission.
