This step‑by‑step guide is the final result of the study:Estimation of girls at risk of female genital mutilation inthe European Union. It sets out the minimum requirementsfor estimating FGM risk, as well as suggestions toenhance the quality and accuracy of the assessment.The guide aims to be a practical support for those appointedto the task to estimate the risk of FGM in a regionor a country within the EU. At the same time, byoffering a common methodological framework to estimateFGM risk in the EU, EIGE wants to contribute to theproduction of comparable and up‑to‑date data across EU Member States. Estimations of FGM risk provide relevantinput to EU Member States’ policy makers to continuetheir work towards the prevention of FGM and theprotection of girls from being subjected to this harmfulpractice.
