This statistical brief presents key findings on women's and men’s representation in decision-making positions in the security sector of the European Union (EU).

Data cover organisations/bodies convened at the international, EU and Member State levels, including the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as a major international organisation working in the area.

Despite formal commitments to address gender inequality in leadership positions in the security sector, the findings show that progress has been limited and women remain significantly under-represented.
