The book documents the results of the PhD Research of the author and focuses on the representation of women in fictional programmes on television. Compared to other research the author not only presents comprehensive date and frames these within a gender studies context but draws special attention to bodily presentations of women. She can show how these lend themselves to showing women as submissive and dependent on men.
