Time for the Family. Family Time Policy as an Opportunity for Sustainable Family Policy (Eighth Family Report)

The survey was carried out to evaluate the situation of families in Germany. The study investigates demographic trends, family types, public benefits, reconciliation of work and family and work, family time policy, childcare services. With respect to reconciliation of work and family and work the survey identifies the following main results: 1. family formation affects the employment behaviour of women significantly more than that of men, 2. increased labour force participation of mothers depends to a large degree on equal sharing of family- and housework from, 3. the actual working hours do not coincide with the desired working hours of both sexes, 4. parents need a flexible and family-friendly working culture.
