Tackling Domestic Violence

Violence in the home is more widespread and more serious than people thought possible a few years ago. An investigation into the nature and the extent of domestic violence, carried out in 1997 at the request of the PYSP Department, made it obvious that such physical, sexual and mental cruelty is not incidental but widespread. Girls and boys, men and women can be victims, there are cases of long-term violence with severe physical and mental consequence. The domestic violence is a social problem that needs to be exposed, opened up for discussion and dealt with at various levels.
