Domestic Violence
Over the past few years it has become progressively clear that violence in the private sphere occurs on a large scale and that it is one of the most extensive forms of violence in Dutch society. Domestic violence accounts for the second highest number of victims who died an unnatural death, after road traffic accidents. Domestic violence also has enormous consequences for children. Many children have been involved as witnesses to or have been victims of domestic violence. These experiences can have extremely negative consequences for the rest of their lives.
